FUTURE-READY CORE COURSE OF STUDY GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
English (4 credits)
· English I
· English II
· English III or AP Language & Composition
· English IV or AP Literature
** English I-IV are offered at the standard and honors level
Mathematics (4 credits)
· Math I,
· Math II,
· Math III,
· 4th Level Math (Math IV, AP Pre-Calculus, or AP Statistics)
*(students should continue to take Math courses through Senior year)
** Math I-IV are offered at the standard and honors level
Science (3 credits )
· Earth/Environmental or AP Environmental Science
· Biology or AP Biology
· Physical Science Course (Physical Science, Chemistry, or Physics)
** Earth/Environmental Science and Biology are offered at the standard and honors level.
** Chemistry and Physics are honors level classes
** Physical Science is taught at the standard level
Social Studies 4 credits)
· World History or AP World History
· American History or AP US History
· Civic Literacy or AP Government and Politics
· Economics & Personal Finance (EPF)
** World History, American History, Civic Literacy, and EPF are offered at the standard and honors level.
Health and Physical Education (1 Credit)
Elective Courses (at least 6 elective credits)
Two elective credits of any combination from either: Career & Technical Education (CTE), Arts Education, World Languages.
Foreign Languages
Not required for High School graduation.
A two-credit minimum is recommended for admission to a university in the UNC system. Students should research what different colleges require and recommend for foreign language credit.

A 90 - 100 4.0
B 80 - 89 3.0
C 70 - 79 2.0
D 60 - 69 1.0
F < 59 0.0
GPA and Class Rank is calculated at the end of each semester.
PROMOTION REQUIREMENTS
To be a sophomore: 6 Credits
To be a junior: 12 Credits
To be a senior: 18 Credits
To Graduate: At least 22 Credits
GPA (Grade Point Average)
There are two types of GPA (Grade Point Average) and BOTH are reported on your transcript:
Un-Weighted GPA - no extra quality points
Weighted GPA - takes into account Honors, AP, and CCP courses, giving extra quality points for the increased rigor.
The chart below explains how many quality points are awarded for each grade earned.

To calculate your GPA, make a list of your grades and the points you earned from each grade (see chart above), then add up the grades and divide by 4 classes.
Example: A (4), B (3), B (3), C (2) = 12/4 = 3.0
