Mu Alpha Theta (National Math Honor Society)

Mu Alpha Theta, the National High School and Two-Year College Mathematics Honor Society, was formed in 1957 at the University of Oklahoma. We are dedicated to inspiring a keen interest in mathematics, developing strong scholarship in the subject, and promoting the enjoyment of mathematics in high school and two-year college students.

You must maintain a unweighted gpa in mathematics of 3.0, be enrolled in math classes each year of membership, be enrolled in Math 3 or higher for the year you are applying, and complete 10 hours of tutoring, 2 competitions, or a combination of the latter two.

If you are in Math 2, you can apply to be an associate for the current year and convert to a member when you enroll in Math 3.

Students interested, who are below Math 2, can look to join the math club to participate in competitions at your level.

At Northside High School, Mu Alpha Theta members compete in math competitions within our region to qualify for the state level and tutor peers in classes that are Math 1 and lower.

If you are interested in joining or have questions, please see Mrs. Komorowski in Room 206.
