Teacher Cadet & Future Teachers of Onslow
Future Teachers of Onslow (FTO) Club
Northside’s Future Teachers of Onslow Club is for students who enjoy working with children and want to explore a career in education. Members visit college campuses, hear from guest speakers, volunteer in local classrooms, and lead service and teacher-appreciation projects. Along the way, students build leadership, communication, and classroom-ready skills through hands-on activities and mentoring. Our goal is to inspire future educators who will one day return to serve right here in Onslow County.
Teacher Cadet Honors Course
Teacher Cadet is an elective that introduces students to the teaching profession and the science of learning. Cadets study child and adolescent development, lesson design, classroom management, and the ethics of teaching, then apply their learning through a supervised field experience in a partner elementary classroom. Students plan and deliver a mini-lesson, reflect using college-ready strategies, and build a professional portfolio. Whether you plan to teach or simply want advanced leadership, communication, and service skills, Teacher Cadet prepares you for success in college and beyond.
